I give credit to Dana for providing inspiration for this trip. I can't afford it, but at the Dubliner she asked me what fun or exciting thing I'd done in the last year. I couldn't really think of anything that stood out. (Florida last May was a bust, and I'll only go back to visit friends. I'm Florida'ed out)
So I figure it's time for something new.
Ok, Toronto isn't a trip to Italy, but it is out of the country, it's a very international city, it's about as spur of the moment as I can be right now, and I get to go someplace I've never been. And I will get to put my passport to use for the first time. AND I'll get to experience the decadence of Canada the right wingers have all been talking about!
If I had more time and money, I'd love to hike over to upstate New York and Vermont. I'd love to see the Adirondacks, the finger lakes, Burlington and environs. That's for another day.

Well as much as I love it here I can't imagine anyone not wanting to visit Florida. Considering Pinellas County is one of the most densely populated counties in the country, many people share my feelings.

Reason, you really don't need a passport for Canada. It just makes it easier.
Be sure to visit Yonge Street. I haven't been there in a long time, but it used to involve quite a few MILES of bar after bar, one kind of music after another, peppered here and there with totally nude strip clubs (and gay bars as I found out by accident [img]redface.gif[/img] )...
They have lots of ethnic neighborhoods where the languages change, etc. Even the street signs in the Greek area use the Greek alphabet. And the rapid transit train system will make ya wonder why Cincinnati didn't finish the subway system 50 years ago - step lively!
Also, as I recall, you can shop in department stores at midnight in the middle of the week if you so desire, they don't roll up the sidewalks at 8 like so many other places.
Hope it's still as clean and litter-free as I remember...
